Late nights not able to sleep, small people wanting to breastfeed every half hour, going to the gym at 5.30am and other small people wanting MummyMummyMummyMummy every five seconds = a sure fire cocktail for extreme tiredness.
Must drink more water. Must go to bed earlier. Must not wake up and check time on watch 12-20 times per night. Seriously, I do that. I have such a fear of sleeping in that I wake up all the time and check my watch to see what the time is. I have an alarm, it has never failed to go off but still I panic about sleeping in.
I think there has only been one morning where I was actually still asleep at 4:45am when the alarm went off. I'm usually laying there waiting for it to start up.
Children are all getting over their lurgies, coughs and colds. Poor Jonah still wakes every morning with fused eyelids. Why won't they just give us the referral to get it channelled for goodness sake!!! Poor kid needs grommets, possibly bowel biopsy and his tear ducts probed. I want it all done at once so only one general anaesthetic but I have no idea how to make that happen.
Luke went for a tour of his new school today. He was SO excited and kept bouncing off the walls so much I thought he might get expelled before he even got to start. Great school, we're very happy with it and hopefully all of the boys will have many happy years there.
Ok, my eyelids desperately want to slam shut so it's goodnight from me.

She whips, she bakes, she scores!!
I have become quite the culinary Master, or is that Mistress? Anyhoo, I have become rather obesessed with cooking lately and have been draging out all manner of cookbook to try out new recipes and shake up our boring old menu. My Darlingest of Husbands bought me a new whizz bang food processor, couple that with my Kitchen Master, an assortment of other gadgetery and I can pretty much cook anything! I could turn and old boot into a tasty stew if I tried hard enough I think.
Actually, today I made scones. I had only ever made them once and after being told they could chip teeth I vowed never to cook them again. But, my food phobic five year old tasted a scone the other day and it seems he loves them. I would walk over hot coals to add new foods to his restricted bland diet but rather than do that I just decided to get a few recipes and have a go again at scones.
They turned out lovely! I made some with cream and some with milk. Both batches were very nice but the milk batch turned out much fluffier. I also think the oven may have been a little hot. I'll turn it down a but when I make the next batch. Luke loved them anyway so that's the main thing.
The pig flu recovery seems to be finally starting. Reece is up and about now and is able to keep food down and not throw up every time he moves. He's much happier but still has a hacking cough. The other kids all have sniffles and snuffles and rattly chests. We have enough snot to start our own farm it seems but I'm having trouble finding a buyer for our crop??
I went for a run this morning but I went to hard too fast and only made it 1k before having to recover. My Trainer told me I went much too fast and to slow down next time. I agreed with him and then did another kilometre very comfortable, then a sprint around a 5oom track. We ran out of time after that so I headed back into the gym and did some ab work and then went and had eggs benedict for breakfast with my gym buddies :P
The cafe we go to does make a low carb version of eggs benny though so all was not lost hehe.
Jonah's paediatrician called today (yeah, a Saturday?) and is sending out a referral to have Jonah tested for Coeliac disease. Almost nothing Jonah is eating is getting digested. Either way he needs to go and see a paediatric gastroenterologist but while we're doing another iron test the coeliac test might as well be done at the same time to save him having two lots of blood taken. That way we know we can rule out coeliac disease or factor it in as a possibility.
Ahh speak of the man himself, he's awake! Jonah that is....not his paediatrician :P

Sickerer and sickerest.
It's just getting worse here. Reece is still crippled with this swine flu. I'm getting annoyed with people saying it's not that bad, it's just like regular flu. Maybe so, but regular flu can still knock you flat too.
He's no better, still hardly moving and not eating. He's been on Tamiflu since monday and I keep waiting for it to kick in but it doesn't. Luke has had a head cold for a few days (as has Sam and Jonah) but tonight Luke spiked a fever and is now developed the most awful chesty cough. They have all had the flu vax for regular flu so if he's got anything it's most likely also swine flu.
No school or work for any of them tomorrow. Might be a good day to hire a stack of new DVD's!

Welcome to the house of snot
Pretty much every person in this house has some kind of lurgy, and we're usually a family that doesn't get sick so it's quite weird. Having so many little folk with so much snot oozing from then is really gross too and there's not a lot we can do to stop it. Both darling Husband and I are feeling a little woozy as though we are brewing something but we had the flu vacc a while back so hopefully it's only general influenza and not piggy flu.
I did a fantastic boxing session today with my PT and I'm soooo stuffed! I also did a quick 1.5k run earlier in the day and then 1093m on the rower which is a PB for me (previous was 1073). I am going to sleep like a tired baby tonight I tells ya!
Reece is still very sick, poor boy. I think he looked a little better at dinner tonight than he did yesterday but he is still totally exhausted and only appearing from his room to eat a little and then go back to sleep. Hopefully the tamiflu will kick in soon. He's lost quite a bit of weight since being sick too. It's been two weeks now, poor boy.
Sam had his last day at CC today. They were a little perplexed as to why we were taking him out but I explained that the reasons we put him in, in the first place, were no longer there. In the past six months Sam has changed so much. He's able to sit and concentrate more, he can plan what he wants to do without being so impulsive. For example, in January this year Sam would see a bucket of blocks and rather than sit and play with them, he'd most likely throw them all up in the air to watch and listen to them rain down again, creating all manner of noise and mess! Now, if he sees the blocks he will sit and play with them for ages, just as they should be played with. He loves drawing and cutting and glueing and now does all this only to paper and only at the craft table. Back in January he'd do it to clothes,, furniture and walls. He was running rings around his poor Mother and I needed a break!
He still manages to wake Jonah up more times than not but apart from that he is a delightful little boy and I want to spend more time with him. No more need for child care. Plus, it got that way that he really didn't want to go. He loves his 3hrs per week of kindy and that seems to be enough for him.
Well, this tired old duck really needs to go to bed. I have a 5.30am PT session tomorrow and I know my trainer has something gruesome planned for me. Maybe my alarm with misteriously not go off??.....
Oh and Seb didn't make it to the gym today either. She didn't even make it into work. Looks like the poor girl also has piggy flu!

Mrs De La Clutter!
That tis me :) Today I started my annual de cluttering of our humble abode. I admit I am a crap collector and once a year I go through the whole house from top to bottom and get rid of it all. Only this year it was made a lot harder by the attention needs of my youngest little bear.
I did get the kitchen and dining room done though so that's a start. Tomorrow we get started on the play room. I will be culling all manner of plastic crapola. I shall take pics too, maybe just of the 'after' part lol. Yesterday I bought two long suede covered boxes to keep on my side board. I usually get the mail, open half of it then put it on the side board where it gets mixed and lost with all of the other clutter (pamphlets, junk mail etc) that comes in. So I bought the box to put the actual mail directly into. It looks much nicer and neater than a pile of scrappy stray papers I can tell you!
My poor second born has swine flu and is one very sick boy (man) indeed. I got Darlingest of Husbands to take him to the ED this morning because he was coughing so much he could hardly breathe. He was hot and also vomiting. He's been sick for two weeks now poor thing. They are treating him with Tamiflu drug so hopefully we will see some improvements soon. I can hear him coughing up a lung from here.
Tomorrow I am heading off to the gym, then out for coffee with a friend, then back to the gym for boxing (I have shiney new red boxing gloves!) and then a tready walk with Seb. I encouraged Seb to join the gym, she did and tomorrow will be her first session. She's terrified, I know that feeling! lol.
Ahhh she'll be fine!

Family Affairs
Hmm...it seems I am not the best blogger of late. I haven't been posting because I really haven't had much to say, it's just been mundane family affairs here and nothing more. But then it struck me. Almost all of the other blogs I read and love are all just about family and their general goings on. I love that, it's why I read blogs, people intrigue me! So I thought, one mans trash being another mans treasure and all that jazz, my mundame family affairs might just be interesting reading to others! So here you go, my stuff...
Yesterday morning (for those of you who don't follow my other blog) I went for a run around a river. it was freezing bloody cold but it was my first timed run and I loved it. I am not an athlete and am not fit but back in October I joined a gym and have been doing the first of any real exercise in my life for the past 17 years. So, I went for a run with my trainer, last time we ran I made it a shameful 700m before I had to stop and walk a little. It was my shin splints that made me stop but still, it was shamefull. This time I managed to run about 1.8k without stopping. Not bad for an old duck I thought!
Today I reversed all that by going to Macca's for lunch lol. Actually we were out shopping in an industrial area and the kids were starving because their neglectful parents forgot to give them morning tea! So we headed into Macca's which pleased them greatly and I must admit, secretly gave me a thrill too ;-) I did order well though, a deli choice roll and a coke zero.
On the way out Sam climbs into his seat and as I buckle him in I hear him say, "Mum, look. Look over there, I can see a Stop sign and it's playing hide and seek with me." Wha?? So I look over and there, peeking out through the branches of a bare tree, as if it is actually playing hide and seek, is a stop sign. It really is one of those 'you had to be there' moments but I roared with laughter. I cannot believe the imagination of this child sometimes, it blows me away. What kid thinks a stop sign is playing hide and seek with him??!!? Mine! lol
(TMI) Jonah has a tummy bug. His nappies are foul, the stools are still black from the iron medicine but they are made worse by whatever it is that is invading his little belly. He has got his Mummy fairly wrapped around his little finger too that boy. I adore him, he's so snuggly and gorgeous and is really showing his own charachter now. He loves to dance and sing. I take him into the kitchen every day and twirl him around while we dance and sing. Never a bigger smile does he have. The kids have one of those Vtech boards that has all manner of flashy buttons on it. It has a sing function and Jonah loves this best. He presses the buttons to make the music start and jiggles along to it with glee!
Last week Luke was chosen to bring home 'Charlie' the school pet dog. Charlie is a stuffed animal and he has his own kennel, bowl and bone. Luke had Charlie for three days and we took him everywhere with us. Charlie came shopping, went to visit friends, sat at the table and had dinner with us, slept in Luke's bed and even sat with me and had coffee at our local cafe! Needless to say, when it was time for Charlie to leave there were mountains of tears and poor Luke did not cope. Of course, we as parents caved in and promised him his very own Charlie.
That night my Darlingest of Husbands took the bigger boys shopping and bought them both a stuffed dog, a small material kennel (great for when we eventually get a cat), a small bone and a bowl each. These boys have carried their dogs around for days now, takeing them everywhere and sleeping with them every night. What a cheap and easy pet!! We so should have done this before lol.
Me, I'm good. Loving the gym, loving the feeling and the health benefits from all of the exercise. For those not following my other blog I have lost just over 20kg since I started there back in October. I'm on a bit of a plateau now so am going to step up the exercise and get past this point. I go to the gym six days a week. I want to increase my sessions from 30min to 1hr each. I'm a lot fitter but I still have so much further to go. My goal is to be able to comfortably do a 4k run.
And that's it. That's todays ramble and a bit of a catch up. Tomorrow you can hear all about my de cluttering endevours!!

Pig flu, punching, pain and poor little poppet.
Pig flu: My 18yo is in lockdown pending test results for swine flu. He has been terribly sick for a week and had extended contact with someone who has been diagnosed with it. The test results should come back today. Poor thing is so sick. He will be quarantined until Wednesday if he does have it but I doubt he'd be well enough to go out before then anyway. GP is almost certain he has it because he has all the symptoms but we need the test results to confirm.
Punching: I got me some shiny new red boxing gloves! I am doing a boxing class every week adn the gloves they use are a bit old so I got some of my own. They are fantstic, much better than the old ones. I love boxing but they also make us do all manner of terrible things like running, skipping, squats and lunges. Makes me want to punch something.... :P
Pain: Dear God whoever invented personal trainers should be shot! My legs are SO sore. I have had five days straight now of leg work and I can hardly walk. It's a long weekend here and I will be spending it saying 'Ouch ouch ouch ouch!' Grrr to personal trainers!
Poor little baby: Jonah has bronchiolitis. Poor little poppet is so sick. He is coughing all day and night and has gunk coming out of every orifice in his face! He needs grommets now. We had another check up yesterday and both ears are full of fluid. Enough is enough, poor boy can't hear so we're off to see the ENT to get some whacked in his lugs and then hopefully we will cure that problem.
The bronchiolitis is taking its toll. He's gone off his food again but not like before. He's probably eating 2/3 of what we got up to so that's still good. He gets so distressed when he coughs, poor bubba. Apparently it will take 3-4 weeks to clear! Just as long as it is all gone before his first birthday next month!
