The problem with having so many little people in the house is that they are insanely messy creatures, therefore a lot of them means a lot of mess. We also have a lot of big people in the house. The problem with having a lot of big people in the house is that they too create a lot of mess. There are three little people and four big people in this house. That's a lot of mess.
I am quite terrified of mess so I spend my day with either my fingers in my ears, sitting the the corner rocking slowly, or I try to clean up said mess. The fingers in ears days are a lot more calming and less scream inducing.
Yesterday afternoon I had a clean kitchen. My large family table was spotless but for the large fish bowl that sits in the middle housing two bored fish. Today, same table, I can't see because of the weight buckling mess that has been strewn across it.
Sam had nutrigrain for breakfast, Sam also decided to play with his play doh at breakfast time. In an effort to save a falling play doh ball he knocked over his very full cereal bowl, right across the table and onto the floor. Not just in to the floor, it fell with fource and a trajectory so it flew everywhere. As it spread across the table it connected with all of the cut off paper pieces that Luke had been playing with earlier in the morning, and it also managed to spill into the seventy thousand reels of junk mail that my eldest have very thoughtfully collected and then dumped on the table plus the pile of ironing I had thrown there only moments earlier. After it all became one with the remnants of what used to be a pancake that Jonah had for breakfast it then decided to stop spreading its love and just sat there like a festy pile of crap waiting for me to clean it up.
I still haven't
I'll get to it when I finish this blog post...mebbe.
It's a daily thing, this mess. I can never ever get on top of it no matter how much I try but it is important to me that I try to get on top of it. I'm not a messy person, I am clean and organised and things go where they should go but I am living with a bunch of cave men and a hoard of trolls who do not share my love of all things clean. Thus, my house really does look like a home invasion.
Whilst I have been typing this the boys have helped themselves to the Wii which means of course that they have left the DVD cupboard open and Jonah is now in there flicking every single one of the 300+ DVDs we own onto the floor. That cupboard is next to the toy cupboard that he got into earler that also has its contents strewn across the floor. Oh and next to that is the large family couch, covered in pieces of clothing that need folding and putting away.
Yeah, that's really going to happen today.
I think its high time I hit the grog cupboard!

Aaah you have a magic look into my house!
The reason I was so excited I got door! LOL
Can totally relate! 4 little people and 2 big people live here and they can make such a mess!! I will be cleaning and I turn around and they are making a mess behind me! Can be so disheartening!! I try really hard to not get too stressed about it as I don't want the kids to grow up with memories of mummy always being upset about the mess! I want them to have good memories of the time I have spent playing with them! The mess can wait!
Sometimes it does get a bit much and DH either takes all the kids out to give me space to clean up or he helps me with some cleaning!!
Good luck!

Too bad you aren't really good mates with the Domestic Guru!! :D
The mess... :)
I only have one mini and one maxi person at home... i would thus imagin that I will have a moderate mess...ahhh no! its a tsunami. I want my kitchen clean, because when i wake up early in the morning, getting ready for "mummy I am tired, I dont want to wake up", "mummy where are my socks", "Mummy dvd is not working" , mummy I dont want frosties, i want eggs".... it is the only 5 minutes of my entire day when i feel quite rested and happy to have a quiet coffee. But this is way too much to ask for. My maxi was cooking at night!!! So here I am sipping my coffee and washing dishes (still half asleep), placing lunch in lunch box, trying to wake my mini person up, feeding the cat, looking for socks, fixing DVD, trying to have a shower, dressing us all up, removing cats hair from clothes, and finally....we are all ready to leave...rush rush to work. Ahh i might even manage to get to the office on time to have this quiet coffee...and so my mini is in a school van, my maxi is ready to leave - kiss kiss love- i walk to the car...but something, hmmm something is missing.... ahhh forgot to change my home shoes! Jezzz - no quiet coffee.
